About Shri Kashi Vishwanath Seva Samiti
Shri Kashi Vishwanath Seva Samiti is a not-for-profit organization committed to serving humanity with compassion, integrity, and devotion. Rooted in the core values of Seva (selfless service), Samarpan (wholehearted devotion), and Samman (dignity for all), the Samiti strives to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need- across both spiritual and social spheres.
Though the organization draws inspiration from the sacred traditions of Kashi, its heart beats in Kolkata, where its team of dedicated volunteers and patrons carry out service-driven activities all year round. From public welfare initiatives to organizing large-scale community support during religious gatherings, Shri Kashi Vishwanath Seva Samiti has become a symbol of faith in action.
Our work extends beyond rituals and temple service. We believe in bringing the essence of devotion into everyday life– by serving water to a thirsty pedestrian, feeding a hungry pilgrim, or supporting the elderly during sacred melas. Each effort is a small act of reverence turned into impact.
Our Story
Established by a group of spiritually inclined individuals with a deep desire to serve, Shri Kashi Vishwanath Seva Samiti was born out of the belief that service is the highest form of worship. What started as a humble effort to support pilgrims during festive gatherings soon expanded into a larger movement of urban compassion.
Over the years, the Samiti began installing free water dispensers across major streets and neighbourhoods in Kolkata, ensuring clean drinking water for daily wage earners, labourers, and the general public- especially during the scorching summer months. This initiative alone has benefited thousands and is one of the most recognized acts of public service by the organization.
Another cornerstone of the Samiti’s journey is its active presence at major religious events like the Ganga Sagar Mela and Shravan Mela, where it sets up fully managed camps offering food, first aid, and resting areas for devotees and sadhus. These camps run purely through voluntary effort and donor support, standing as a testament to what collective devotion can achieve.
Additionally, the distribution of free sattvic food to pilgrims near temple grounds and public places continues throughout the year, supported by a growing network of volunteers who see every meal served as an offering of love and respect.
The Samiti is not a charity- it is a movement of people bound by purpose, faith, and a common commitment to uplift lives through acts of compassion.
Our Journey in Numbers
Transforming Lives Through the HEAL Project Since 2021
Our Mission
To serve with humanity and devotion, ensuring that basic human needs like clean water, nutritious food, and spiritual care are provided to all regardless of their background or belief. Through every initiative, we aim to uphold the dignity of those we serve and inspire more people to embrace a life of seva.
Our Vision
We envision a society where faith leads to action, and compassion flows beyond religious rituals. By expanding our services across cities and events, we aspire to become a trusted pillar of support for the public especially during high-density pilgrimages, festivals, and in daily urban life. Our goal is to build a future where service becomes a shared cultural value, and where no person is denied water, food, or respect.
